I can't imagine eating cereal w/milk and drinking OJ at the same time. The acidity of the OJ, in my mind, clashes w/ the milk/cereal. Bad plan. :<

You know, it's really not necessary to post your icon lists and all the journals that you cross posted in. Because it makes for one very cluttered, very long, and very annoying post. Especially when I see several versions of it on my flist.

So, chinadahll posts to baby_names asking for naming advice. Now that's all well and good, since that's what the community is there for. However, she insists that no one criticize her "unique names," because her future daughter WILL like it, and after all, she knows her future much better than you, since it's not like, y'know, the child hasn't even been born yet, making it's personality pretty hard to predict.

I'd like to believe this is a troll, but it sounds far too much like many overbearing mothers I know. Did you know that a conformist kid isn't worth raising? Because chinadahll knows this. She also knows that kids always come out as exactly the sort of person their parents raised them to be.

But I just can't hate her. Do you know why? Because she's a believer. She believes in something. In fact, she firmly believes in many somethings.

She firmly believes that nurture is stronger than nature.
She firmly believes that all children start as blank slates.
She firmly believes that her daughter will appreciate whatever unique name she is given.
Once again, she firmly believes in nurture rather than nature.
She firmly believes that her parenting methods are the best ones ever.
She firmly believes that we should try to be as nice to one another as possible.

Well, I firmly believe that repeating the same phrase over and over again really helps getting one's point across. So, shine on, chinadahll, you crazy diamond.

It's really a bit rude to PM someone and ask them to read your fic, while saying you won't read theirs because you don't read slash. In a fandom as small as ours (I think we're the only two authors in it), asking me to read your fic is fair enough, because I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I can see why you did it, but I'm still annoyed. I would really love my fic to actually get read.

Why oh why is there no love for the 19th century Russian (blatantly shagging behind the scenes) guys?

I know that it's like beating an extremely dead horse, but I can't help it; hate Gwen as much as you like (I'll sit in the back and fume a little but it's your opinion, after all), but please stop letting that hate bleed into your fic.

Granted, Gwen divides opinion, but letting your personal beef with her into your fic and making her malevolent/jealous/thick/revenge-filled/all four of those will make her very OOC and ruin the general effect of your story. Because, chances are, if you're not writing her right, you'll get other voices wrong too.

Also, she is not out to threaten Jack/Ianto! She's friends with both of them! In the show, when she caught them having sex, she apologised and ran away giggling! How on earth is she out to break them up?

Backstory: mintogrubb is British and likes to tell us this frequently. He also likes to tell us what a nice guy he is, and he decries the use of insults on anti_feminism and makes numerous whiny posts about the mean, nasty atmosphere there, imploring us all to just get along. Meanwhile, he fights a lot with madra_liath, because minto frequently says things that are fucking stupid. In the course of the conversation, madra_liath tells mintogrubb to sit down before he hurts himself. I don't know if there was sitting-down-related childhood abuse in minto's past or what but it sets him the hell off.

When you have invaded my country, when you Mo'fo's have somehow organised a way to get your sorry arses onto enough ships and got all the way across the pond, when you have overcome the panic that sets in when you realise that the world far bigger than you realised, when you have fought your way off the beachhead and crushed all resistance, and are marching up the smoking ruins of Whitehall with the bands playing - *then* you can start giving your orders to me, woman.

Of course, as anyone with half a brain knows, madra is IRISH, so all hell breaks loose. Some choice bits:

I have epilepsy. You know I do. I appreciate that you did your research (for that at least - your muslim chick STILL sucks major bollocks) and that you asked me about it. Cookie for that.

However, you LOSE that cookie for then using that as an OMFG WANKFEST when trying to "outwank" my character when he happens to mention lack of sleep after being raped and then *accidently* ODing on pain killers and alcohol on his dead girlfriend's birthday. And it was accidental - he has extreme healing and figured pills + booze = easy getting drunk. Coz he wasn't exactly thinking straight.

When you try that, I just sit here, look at the screen and go "....Buh?" because epilepsy DOES NOT EQUAL wankable shit. Believe me.

Haha, ok...I am watching the Season of Disney show "Disney on a Dime" on the Travel Channel right now. I think you attractions folks might appreciate this story. I did!

So, I'm watching the show, and they are following the Jones family as they make the most of their money in WDW. At this point they're explaining how Fastpass works. They show the family walk up to the Fastpass machine, stick their tickets in, and out pops their Fastpass which reads "THIS IS NOT A VALID FASTPASS" in that big black box we all know so well. Then the family goes up to the Cast Member at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, who lets them in the Fastpass line, no problem.

And the people who made this TV show probably figured nobody would notice, lol. I guess I'm just amused because I had to explain what "THIS IS NOT A VALID FASTPASS" meant about a hundred million times a day! :)

So, you have four different icons posts from the same fandom. You want to post links in fandom-related icon communities. Do you think that maybe you could make one post. I really don't like seeing half my friends page taken up with your posts because you posted a seperate post for each of your icon posts in two seperate communities.

If you are actually posting the icons, multiple posts are great. They save bandwidth for those who just have dial-up. However, if you are only posting fake-cuts or links to your own icon journal, please stick the posts together. It wastes space and is really, really annoying.

Also, WTF to the icon poster who made 1700 icons of the latest House episode. Yes, the episode was awesome. We really didn't need 1700 shitty icons of it, though. You didn't even make much effort on them. They are basically just cropping. Does anyone actually download zips of icons? You only posted a preview of 100 of them, and I doubt anyone is really desiring to see the rest. What a waste of time. 10 good icons of the episode would have been better than 1700 barely worked on horrible ones.

I looked in the mirror and thought "That doesn't look like me."

It was rather weird.
